First Flower is inspired by the Aztec creation legend in which Xochipilli, the god of music, poetry, and dance, transforms into a hummingbird to descend from the upper realm. Only in bird form can he cross the boundary between worlds to reach Xochiquétzal, the earth goddess of love and fertility.

Their encounter gives rise to the very first flower. A moment of divine recognition becomes the origin of beauty on Earth.

This piece captures that precise threshold: the earth‑aligned feminine figure, the descending hummingbird, and the first red flower being born from the union of sky and earth.
